High Tea at Hotel Lutetia in Paris

The Hotel Lutetia is a historic hotel located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood of Paris. It was built in 1910 by the Boucicaut family, who also founded the famed Le Bon Marché department store. The hotel was designed by architect Louis-Hippolyte Boileau and decorated by artist and decorator Jules Leleu.

The Hotel Lutetia quickly became a popular destination for artists, writers, and intellectuals, as well as for wealthy travelers. During World War II, the hotel was requisitioned by the German occupation forces and used as a barracks for the Luftwaffe. After the war, the hotel was returned to its original owners and was fully renovated in 1950.

Over the years, the Hotel Lutetia continued to attract a diverse group of patrons, including celebrities, politicians, and royalty. It was known for its luxurious accommodations and elegant Art Deco design and was often considered one of the finest hotels in Paris.

In 2014, the hotel was closed for a four-year renovation, during which it underwent a major transformation. The renovation was designed to preserve the hotel’s history and iconic features, while also updating it with modern amenities and technology. The hotel reopened in 2018 and has since regained its status as one of Paris’s top luxury hotels.
