If you’re looking for the best travel credit card that rewards you for your travels, then look no further than the Chase Sapphire Reserve, a wildly popular credit card by Chase Bank.
I signed up for this travel credit card in December of 2016. The application process was painless and I had my card within two weeks!
I got lucky because, at the time, Chase was offering 100,000 points as a bonus reward for signing up. In addition, there was a $300 per calendar year credit for travel purchases. So I bought a $300 Delta gift card in December to take advantage of that since I didn’t have any purchases to make at the time.
Currently, Chase is offering 50,000 points to new cardholders, which is still a fabulous deal. They discontinued the original 100K offer due to the popularity of the card, and it’s unlikely to return as it cost Chase a lot of money!
Ok, so why is this the ultimate travel rewards credit card?
3x points for travel and dining purchases
When you use the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you get 3 times the points for travel and dining purchases. That means for every dollar you spend on travel or restaurants, you get 3 points which can be redeemed for plane tickets, hotels, and more. Points can be redeemed for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, which offers a variety of options including flights, hotels, car rentals, and more.
Annual Travel Credit
Each year, cardholders receive a $300 statement credit for travel purchases. This credit can be applied to a wide range of travel expenses including airfare, hotels, and rental cars.
Priority Pass
As a bonus for having a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, you get access to the Priority Pass network of airport lounges all over the world, or over 1,000 airport lounges. This can be a great perk for frequent travelers who want to relax and recharge before their flights.
TSA PreCheck/Global Entry Credit
Cardholders receive a statement credit of up to $100 every 4 years to cover the cost of either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fees. This can help travelers save time and hassle at the airport.
Trip Insurance
With a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, you get trip insurance that covers many unexpected traveling mishaps such as canceled flights. The card offers a range of travel insurance benefits, including trip cancellation/interruption insurance, baggage delay insurance, and primary rental car insurance.
No Foreign Traction fees
Using your card abroad won’t cost you extra. Chase doesn’t charge any foreign transaction fees, nor does it mark up the exchange rate. The current exchange rate you see on Google is what you’ll be charged!
Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is a great choice for frequent travelers who are looking for a premium travel rewards card with a wide range of benefits. However, it’s important to note that the card comes with a high annual fee, so it may not be the best choice for everyone.
