The Hôtel du Palais is undoubtedly the most luxurious and glamorous hotel in Biarritz. Perched above sea level, yet easily accessible from the beach, this architectural wonder dates back to the mid-19th century. The red and cream-colored palace was built by Napoleon III, as a seaside resort for his Spanish queen Eugénie in 1855. The location of the villa was specifically chosen by Napoleon due to its proximity to Spain, where his wife could easily visit, and he called it Villa Eugénie.
The hotel exudes French elegance, even today after much restoration. The grounds are meticulously manicured, with colorful flowers and neoclassical sculptures lining the lush green grass. A drink on the terrace overlooking the pool and Atlantic Ocean yields a view not to be missed in this lovely town…
It’s no doubt the best place to stay in Biarritz if you have a trip coming up!
