Juan-les-Pins Beach Clubs: A Place to Relax and Unwind

I decided to walk from Antibes to Juan Les Pins one afternoon, which took about 25 minutes.

Juan-les-Pins is the neighboring town of Antibes, almost like a sister city. I imagine driving between the two would take no more than 5 minutes. The towns are similar yet different in many ways. Juan-les-Pins has a much more “beach resort” feeling, with an endless stretch of sandy beach clubs, while Antibes has a thriving downtown area and only a tiny stretch of sand along its rocky coast.

In this series, I photographed the many beach umbrellas you see as you pass each beach club. Each restaurant has its own territory along the sand and borders are defined by the many chromatic variations!

As I stood by the sidewalk looking out at the sparkling sea, I noticed that my hair was perfectly still. It seems that in the Provence region, the climate is extremely hot in the summer, and there is simply not much wind (unless you’re in the water). Although, maybe I just noticed it more after spending five weeks in Biarritz along the Atlantic where the wind blows non-stop as if a hurricane is coming!

Here are some fun things to din Juan-les-Pins if you have a trip there coming up!

  1. Visit the Beaches: Juan-les-Pins is renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches. You can sunbathe, swim, or indulge in water sports.
  2. Explore the Nightlife: The town is famous for its vibrant nightlife, with many bars, clubs, and restaurants to enjoy.
  3. Attend the Jazz à Juan Festival: If you’re visiting in July, don’t miss the Jazz à Juan festival, one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe.
  4. Stroll along the Promenade: Take a leisurely walk along the seafront promenade to enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
  5. Take a Boat Trip: Consider taking a boat trip to nearby islands or coastal towns, such as Cannes or Nice, for a scenic view of the coastline.
  6. Visit the Gardens: The Garden of La Pinede is a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy the subtropical plants and trees.
  7. Try Local Cuisine: Enjoy dining at local restaurants to taste the Mediterranean cuisine, particularly the seafood dishes.
