I spent a bit of time looking for the Barrio Santa Cruz that everyone says is the prettiest of Alicante. The district is actually labeled Barrio Santa Creu on Google Maps and it’s a little bit west of where it looks to be on the map. The neighborhood is quite small, but it’s surely the most charming I saw in Alicante.

On a Saturday afternoon, I walked up the steps along Calle Pedro Sebastià, where Spaniards drank, ate and sang along outdoor restaurants. When I reached the top of the inclined street, to my left was Calle San Roque, and the most gorgeous pink church I’d ever seen. To my right was a tiny pedestrian-only pathway where a gardener was working on the many plants that lined the walkway’s homes.
